CMS released the final rule for the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). MACRA is a complete overhaul of Medicare’s existing payment system for physician fees that replaces the sustainable growth rate formula. The rule finalizes MACRA’s Quality Payment Program, which aims to reduce administrative burden on physicians so they can focus on care improvement, meaningful use of certified EHR technology (MU) and quality (PQRS and VBM) which will represent 75% of their total possible score (two key areas Cozeva supports).
A provider’s annual MIPS score will determine to what extent their Medicare reimbursement will be adjusted up or down as high as 9%. The first MIPS performance year begins on January 1, 2017, and the results will affect providers’ 2019 Medicare reimbursement. In addition, MIPS scores will be publicly reported by the government via the Physician Compare website. At Cozeva we provide a wide range of quality reporting products and services for independent, mid-sized and large practices, as well as health plans, health systems, academic medical centers and IPA practices.
