A Senior Software Developer to help build and improve AI-assisted healthcare quality workflows. This person should have strong backend engineering experience along with hands-on exposure to NLP, LLM-based systems, RAG pipelines, document processing, and clinical terminology workflows. The role will work closely with engineering, clinical coding, operations, and HEDIS/quality teams to build reliable systems for healthcare document understanding, evidence extraction, rule evaluation, and clinical code suggestions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and improve NLP, LLM, and AI-based workflows.
- Develop backend services, APIs, workers, orchestration logic, and data pipelines for scalable document processing.
- Build deterministic rule-checking components for HEDIS and other quality-measure logic.
- Implement terminology matching and validation using CPT, LOINC, HCPCS, CVX, ICD, RxNorm, value sets, UMLS, or similar resources.
- Translate clinical and business logic into executable, auditable configuration using YAML, JSON, or similar formats.
- Build validation pipelines, unit tests, golden-set evaluations, and audit reports for evidence extraction and code suggestions.
- Work closely with clinical SMEs, coders, QA, operations, product, and engineering teams.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, implementation planning, and production support.
Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development skills.
- Strong Python experience, including APIs, data processing, testing, and structured application design.
- Hands-on experience with NLP, LLM, RAG, embeddings, semantic search, vector databases, or document indexing.
- Ability to convert complex clinical, business, or rule-based logic into reliable software components.
- Good understanding of JSON, YAML, relational databases, document stores, and versioned configurations.
- Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and domain experts.
- Healthcare experience is preferred, especially with HEDIS, NCQA specifications, clinical coding, medical record abstraction, quality-measure logic, or value-set-based workflows.
- Experience with AWS services such as Textract, S3, Lambda, ECS, Bedrock, and OpenSearch is a strong plus.
