Boost Your Patients’ COVID-19 Immunization Rates with Cozeva!

April is National Minority Health Month with the theme of Give Your Community a Boost! The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health is focusing on continued efforts to vaccinate those eligible due to COVID-19 as the third leading cause of death in 2020 (CDC). It’s also vital to examine “underlying health and social inequities that put many racial and ethnic minority groups at increased risk of getting sick, having more severe illness, and dying from COVID-19.” (CDC)

COVID-19 Vaccine and Health Equity Issues

A variety of factors impact vaccination access and acceptance, which commonly affect racial and ethnic minority groups. These factors include education, income, job access and working conditions, racism, health care access, transportation and neighborhood conditions, and lack of trust. (CDC).

Immunization rates among racial groups have been shifting with the on-going efforts to immunize those still unvaccinated or have yet to receive booster shots. The CDC data at the national level shows some significant gaps to understand who is and is not getting vaccinated. (KFF)
